Material Science

Ther are different types of equipment for the preparation of thin layers for TEM visualization. The equipment is the following:

 

Serra de presició Minitom de Struers

Fulles de diamant amb diferents caracterísitiques:

* Per mostres fines per TEM

* Per mostres de SEM: materials metàl·lics, ceràmics,...

 

 

 

Pulidora automàtica Laboforce de Struers

Pulidora de doble capçal i velocitat variable. Amb brac automàtic per a l'esmerilat de mostres pel SEM

* Discs de SiC amb grans de 14, 18, 22, 30, 46 i 53um

* Discs de felpa amb suspensions de diamant i alumina de 1, 3 i 9um

         

Pulidora còncava GATAN Dimple Grinder   

Dimple grinding for mechanical method of pre-thinning to near electron transparency. Thickness control within 1um.

* Diamont powder suspension for polishing.

* Diferent holders to attach the samples

 

Precision Ion Polishing System (PIPS)

 Precision ion polisher designed to produce high quality TEM specimens.

* Two Penning ion guns with miniature rare earth magnets.

 * Beam energy:  0.5 to 4kV.

 * Beam alignment: Precision beam alignment using fluorescent screen.

 * Sample Size: 3mm, dimpled to a thickness of about 40um at specimen center

Ultramicrotome Leica EM UC7

 

The ultramicrotome Leica EM UC7 provides easy preparation of semi- and ultrathin sections as well as perfect, smooth surfaces of biological and industrial samples for TEM, SEM, AFM and LM examination

 

 

 

Cryo ultramicrotome Leica FC6

The Leica EM FC6 cryochamber integrates with the Leica Ultracut EM UC6 to provide low temperature sectioning from -15° to -185°C.

AFS Leica   

The Leica EM AFS2 performs freeze substitution and progressive lowering of temperature techniques and allows low temperature embedding andpolymerization of resins.

 

 

 Plunging Leica

The Leica EM CPC cryopreparation chamber is a modular, versatile system to prepare biological and material specimens for plunge freezing with propane and ethane.
