Abstract:

Neutrino oscillations are a quantum interference phenomena that occurs when massive neutrinos fly over long distances. The discovery of neutrino oscillations was awarded recently with the Nobel Prize and the Breakthrough prize on fundamental physics. I will introduce briefly the physical phenomena and the experiments used to measure it. Then, I will describe the statistical tools used to extract the basic oscillation parameters and to look from unexpected phenomena. Neutrino oscillations deal with very little data but complex statistical methods due to the complexity of the experiments. Neutrino oscillation experiments is one of the few places in high energy particle physics, traditionally frequentist, where Bayesian statistical methods is starting to be used.
