The LC-DAD-(SPE)-NMR/MS technique is ideal for the analysis of mixtures. HPLC is hyphenated to NMR, mass spectrometry (MS) and UV-VIS (DAD) yielding a triple detection by complementary techniques.
Natural product extracts, biofluids (e.g. urine, plasma, serum) or crudes of reaction can be analyzed by this technique; fields of application include biomedicine, pharmacology, natural products, metabolism and food science among others. This technique has particular application in the analysis of low concentrated impurities, a common analytical problem in the pharmaceutical industry. This equipment allows to separate and concentrate the analyte before NMR detection. The post-column concentration together with the cryoprobed NMR magnet allows the acquisition of 2D NMR experiments of (originally) low concentrated analytes.
